Have you been using the upcoming spring season as a way to distract yourself from this winter's bone-chilling temperatures? If so, then you're not alone! While your thoughts might drift to installing a new porch or adding some landscaping fixtures to your yard, the spring is also a good time to consider replacing your windows. In fact, if you notice any of the following four signs, then you should move such a project to the top of your list, and contact C&T Siding now for a free estimate.

1.      Your Windows are Hard to Open and/or Close

You might think that fighting with your windows to open and close them is just part of being the owner of an aging home, but it shouldn't be something you take in stride. If you look closely, you might notice your windows' tracks simply don't seem to come together like they used to. This can cause the window to stick and make it difficult to open and/or close.

2.      Your Windows Don't Stay Open

There are few things as frustrating as struggling to open a window only to see it slowly slide closed. Of course, you can always prop the window open, but that should be viewed as a temporary fix only. If your windows won't stay open, then it's time to consider replacing them. Not only will it allow you to enjoy the spring breezes, but doing so can prevent children and animals from being hurt if the windows were to slide closed unexpectedly.

3.      Your Windows Won't Lock

Of course, your windows do more than just allow you to air out your home and enjoy the warm spring breezes. They are also a security measure that is compromised if you aren't able to lock them properly. While it's sometimes possible to repair a broken window lock, replacement is warranted if repair is not an option.

4.      Your Home is Drafty

If there is one good thing to come out of the frigid winter weather this year, it's that you'll become more aware of whether your home is drafty. If you feel air escaping your windows, or if your home's heating system had a difficult time maintaining the temperature you set the thermostat at, it's time to think about replacing your windows.
